Weekly Photo Challenge: Triangular Tension and Traces Left Behind

By In Photo Challenges, Wallingford and Oxfordshire
Initially this weeks photo challenge left me bewildered. How could I possibly combine Traces Left Behind with Triangular Tension? Singularly there wouldn’t be a problem, but together?

Last weekends storm sparked an idea, but finding wind blown debris either naturally in a triangle or arrange so proved impossible. There were twigs and a puddle and a newspaper but nothing I felt happy with. It was during a cocktail shoot that another idea was born – the residue of me mixing and making a cocktail must have some photographic potential, but despite playing around with tonic water bottles, cocktail sticks and slices of lemon nothing really combined into a ‘story’.

“Interesting traces arouse curiosity and often tell a story. It will pay off to look for such traces for your photo”

So the card instructed. More prop shuffling, the introduction of some playing cards (wish I had an old, battered set rather than this pristine set) and this photo resulted. Having just downloaded the now free Nik Collection software plugin, I wanted to make use of it and applied one of the old film presets to (a frankly) otherwise uninspiring photo.
