Photos Interiors of Castello Carlo V Lecce

Not a huge amount to see in the Castello Carlo V in Lecce. It lies on the southern edge of the old town so within easy reach during a town wander. It was first built in the Middle Ages and strengthened by Charles V in 1539. Its most famous legend has it that the owners in the 14th century kept a white bear in the moat. At the time of my visit there was a small display of paintings by local resident and acclaimed artist Ercole Pignatelli.

I assume most of the halls are given over to various cultural events; they were all rather empty at the time of my visit. But I did have a rather good time taking a few images…
